Clubfoot

A congenital deformity of one or both feet that affects the bones, muscles, tendons, and blood vessels. The foot is usually short and broad in appearance, with the heel pointing downward while the front half of the foot turns inward. The Achilles tendon is tight, the heel looks narrow, and the muscles in the calf are smaller compared to a normal lower leg. Clubfoot occurs in about one in every 1,000 live births and affects boys twice as often as girls. Half the time, both feet are affected. The causes of clubfoot is considered a multifactorial trait, which means that it involves both genetic and environmental factors.
